Our technology is revolutionizing the way people exercise in health clubs. We’ve developed world-first technology to accurately track and score hundreds of exercises in real-time.
Using a combination of 3D motion sensors and a 16-zone pressure
mat our technology can track:
Body weight exercises (squats, lunges, jumping jacks etc)
Up to 16 stations can be connected together in a Health Club to provide real-time competitive
workouts between multiple participants. Participants can choose between doing their own workout,
or joining in for a competitive group workout. Each station (as pictured above) is compact and
occupies less than 100 square ft (9 sq. meters).
Results & Data
All results are automatically logged and stored in the cloud. This data is used during future
workouts to motivate participants to beat their personal best for each exercise. The participants
can also access their results via our website and mobile app to see how they’re improving over
time. Leaderboards enable participants to benchmark their performance against users from around
the world.
Safety
Our system has built-in safeguards to minimize participant injuries. With free-weight exercises the
system automatically limits the weight a participant can select. The maximum weight they can lift
for a given exercise will gradually be increased over time as they demonstrate good technique to
the system - this is 100% automated and doesn’t require any human intervention.
Group Fitness Circuits
We also support bikes (Schwinn AC-series), rowing machines (Concept2) and Battle ropes to
create a complete functional training circuit. Our retro-fit auto-resistance technology turns Schwinn
bikes into fully-automated bikes.
So how does it work?
Participants use a Touch Screen kiosk to select the type of workout they would like to do, for
example high intensity cardio, full body or strength. They can optionally choose to compete against
one or more other participants assuming there are enough available Versus systems.
They are then directed to an available Versus station and our system takes them through a short
warmup routine that is relevant to their selected workout. Following the warmup, the workout
sessions will start and they are shown a 3D animation of a given exercise and they must perform
the exercise correctly following this. For each repetition they complete they are given a score which
is calculated using a combination of range-of-motion, technique and weight lifted (not applicable to
body weight exercises).
Workouts can be programmed to run for 10 minutes through to 30 minutes during which time the
system will run them through a large number of different exercises. As they progress between
exercises their total score is displayed on the screen.
How does the scoring work?
Our scoring algorithms are very advanced as they factor in range-of-motion (ROM), motion path,
technique and weight lifted. All range-of-motion calculations are relative to the participants body.
For example the ROM of a squat is measured relative the length of the participants legs, whereas
a bicep curl is measured relative to the length of their arms. This allows people of all shapes and
sizes to fairly compete against each other. We have spent over a year calibrating the scoring with
data from hundreds of participants to ensure the scoring is fair, consistent and equitable.
How is technique enforced?
Technique is enforced to ensure participants are performing the exercises in a safe and beneficial
manner. There are two levels of enforcement. Technique “Warnings” are displayed on the screen
for minor technique breaches however the repetition is still counted and scored, whereas
Technique “Errors” are displayed on the screen for a major technique breach and the repetition is
not counted or scored. This process quickly motivates the participant to correct their technique
based on the feedback displayed on the screen e.g. “Stop Swaying”
